We pray in times of uncertainty or need.
What is prayer? A conversation between two people who love each other – continually not one time. Trust, commitment, love.
1.Posture John 17:1 – Jesus lifted up his eyes in a time of His greatest need. Jesus looked up. A prayer of faith and confidence. It demonstrates confident faith, intimate fellowship with God.
2.Perspective John 17:1a, 4-5 – In the time of His greatest trial, Jesus wanted to glorify His Father.
3.Purpose John 17:2, 3 – In His time of struggle, Jesus shows us purpose overpowers pain.
Jesus’ purpose is to give eternal life. What is eternal life? Knowing Jesus! It’s not for the future – it’s for now!
